British Water Ski & Wakeboard offers three tiers of Instructor qualification, he standard Instructor, Club Coach and Senior Coach licences, complemented by Instructor qualifications in each division e.g. Wakeboard Instructor, Barefoot Instructor etc. Achieve the basic Instructor qualification first and then you can aim for the higher levels or the divisional varieties.
Where can I qualify? You may find that your club is able to arrange a course for a group of members at your club by inviting a suitably qualified British Water Ski & Wakeboard Club Coach or Senior Coach together with an appointed examiner.

What do I need to qualify?
you must be a member of British Water Ski & Wakeboard.
you must be 16 years of age at the time of undertaking your course.
you must complete a CRB check via British Water Ski & Wakeboard.
you must possess the Ski Boat Driver Award as a minimum.
you must possess a current First Aid attendance certificate.
you must have completed a minimum of 10 hours instruction.
you must be in possession of the British Water Ski & Wakeboard Instructors Manual.
you must have an appropriate level of skiing for the qualification you intend to gain.
you must meet the requirements of our Child Protection policy.
What is an "appropriate level" of skiing?
Instructor standard - Silver Grade
deepwater start on one ski.
carry out on a mono ski six virages across the wake correctly.
return to dock and land in a controlled manner.
Coach standard - Gold Grade
carry out on a mono ski six virages across the wake within 30 secs.
on two trick skis complete 180 degree turns front to back.
on two trick skis complete a 360 degree turn front to front.
complete one jump competently.
What do I need to do in the test and how long does it take?
Practical Test
demonstrate to the examiner an appropriate level of skiing.
demonstrate to the examiner your coaching skills in relation to the course content.
Written Test
complete a mixed multiple choice / short answer test paper (approx 45 minutes).
receive a minimum score of 70%.
How do I maintain the qualification?
you must remain a British Water Ski & Wakeboard member.
you must attend a first aid course every three years.
you must submit a renewal form every three years. |
