As part of the management structure provided by the Bill, British Water Ski and Eastern Rivers Ski Club have helped to draw up and recently agreed an “Agreement” to assist the Broads Authority in the management of both Water skiing and Wakeboarding. The separation definition of the two disciplines will allow the possibility of the separate areas of each activity if this becomes necessary.
Part of the “Agreement” requires a Panel to be set up of various organisations with an interest in the recreational use of the Broads. The agreed Panel consists of a representative from each of the RSPB, The Broads Society, a member of the Broads Authority Board, Norfolk and Suffolk Yachting Association, The RYA, Sport England, ERSC and British Water Ski.
There is still a lot work to be done but hopefully we are moving to an era where to talk will be of managing rather than banning.
Thanks to all those involved, Julian Barnwell, Barry Odell, Tony Green and others in helping to bring this success story on behalf of BWS about.
