Welcome to British Water Ski & Wakeboard

british water ski now operates under a new name

In 1951 a conglomerate of founder clubs established the British Water Ski Federation to represent water skiing and it’s related disciplines nationally and internationally.  Since then the federation has changed and adapted to its surroundings, adopting new disciplines such as Water Ski Racing in 1966 and moving on to running the first British Wakeboarding championships in 1993 at Abersoch.

Since 1993 Wakeboarding has grown quickly and has become a strong discipline which the British Water Ski Federation is proud to represent.  As a sign of the presence and growth of the discipline a change of name was proposed and voted on at the recent AGM.

Following a majority vote by affiliated clubs, the public name of the British Water Federation Ltd has now changed to British Water Ski and Wakeboard.  This change has been made, just months after the International Water Ski Federation became the International Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation.
